Poverty and Hunger

Food Insecurity Leads to Chronic Malnutrition

Sadly, 50% of children under the age of five are affected by chronic malnutrition, placing Guatemala among one of the world's worst.

We partner with Kids Against Hunger to get highly nutritional meals to those who live in areas most affected by food insecurity.  In 2023 over one million meals were sent to Guatemala.

Healthcare

Guatemala Has Limited Hospital Infrastructure

The healthcare system is illustrated by a limited number of hospitals and uneven distribution of health facilities across the country.  This results in inadequate healthcare services to its population of 17 million people.

We partner with Good Samaritan Hospital in Chichicastenago.  We have assisted in putting in an eye clinic, maintenance work, and in providing medical supplies and Kids Against Hunger meals.

Education

Adult Illiteracy – Guatemala Ranks 4th in the World

Guatemala spends less on education than the regional average.  Access to schools and tuition are only a couple of major hindrances to school attendance.  Classrooms may lack basic supplies, books, desks, etc. needed to provide a proper learning environment. Poverty is also an obstacle to education, especially for indigenous people.  We work with and support local Christian schools to ensure that basic needs are met and students have the opportunity for scholarships through sponsors.

GET INVOLVED!

Community Development

Building infrastructure, providing clean water, and supporting small businesses are essential for community development. Your support helps fund these initiatives allowing Guatemalans to become self-sufficient while thriving in their own communities. We accomplish this by hosting short and long-term mission groups. We offer these groups opportunitis to serve "the least of these" as we are all called to do by Jesus in the scriptures.

SUPPORT OUR MISSION

Disaster Relief

Guatemala is prone to natural disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes. This small country contains 37 volcanoes! Financial aid is crucial for providing emergency relief and rebuilding efforts after natural disasters devastate poverty-stricken portions of the country.
